Full course description

Ready to learn the basic foundations of economics? This course provides foundational economic literacy for learners without prior economics coursework, including but not limited to individuals entering an MBA program. The focus is on economics at the micro level, on recognizing and interpreting economic reasoning—rather than performing analysis—so learners can engage confidently with economic concepts in both real-world business cases, and MBA courses that apply these concepts.

Module 1: This module introduces you to the role of economics in business decision-making, discussing the foundational idea that economics is about choice under constraint and exploring incentives and opportunity cost.

Module 2: Building on a foundational knowledge of the role of economics in business decision-making, you'll learn about demand, how economists think about cost, and the impact of those perspectives on business decisions.

Module 3: Expanding on an understanding of markets and demands, this module will introduce you to market structures and discusses why the level of competition in an industry fundamentally shapes firms' behavior and strategic decision-making.
